Choose from many varieties of fresh fruit + vegetables, farm raised, grass-fed meats, artisan bread, cheese, jams, and lovely fresh cut flowers. This is absolutely a very cool place to learn about seasonal foods and farm-to-table eating.

The Market Information tent holds delicious cooking demonstrations on Wednesdays and the first Saturdays of every month 11:00-1:00, led by the Natural Gourmet Institute. Or you can meet food-obsessed chefs and authors at the market book signings. They’re held by Food Book Fair and are scheduled Saturdays, 10:00-12:00. Don’t miss the local Beer & Spirits Pop-up, #drinklocal. Every week New Yorkers can meet a different craft beverage producer, sample their tasty goods and buy some to bring home.
Today we’re off gathering seasonal ingredients to take back to our tiny NYC kitchen and make a collagen enriched summertime feast. The vibe in the market is charged with excitement. People are pouring over just-picked strawberries, the right head of lettuce or a loaf of whole-grain bread.
And let’s not forget to buy New York’s number one breakfast food…the bagel.
The Bread Alone brand boasts, sesame, plain, poppy seed, and the “everything” bagel to make any New Yorker’s life complete. Simply add a “schmear” of cream cheese, lox, chopped hard boiled eggs, sliced red onion, capers and your so good to go.
Confident cooks, chefs, and inspired foodies are scrambling around looking for that secret element to make their meals unforgettable. Everyone here has one thing in common- we all enjoy fresh food, and we all adore the hunt for it.
The problem at the market is that there are so many options to choose from and you can end up over- buying. We spoke with a farmer that told us of the painstaking effort that it takes to grow the non-GMO corn at his farm. After hearing his amazing story we couldn’t walk away without taking 2 huge bags of non-GMO popcorn for our Netflicks filled nights.
We go on to peruse a plethora of produce: radish, spinach, and mushrooms that look completely other-worldly. Strawberries, beans, and rhubarb, oh my!
Feeling like spoiled children, we find beautiful ingredients for our multi-collagen enhanced Strawberry-Spin Smoothie. This immune boosting blend is made with almond milk, pineapple, spinach, and strawberries. We always try to use organic fruits + veggies when we can. It’s been a crazy humid 89 degrees day so we can’t wait to get back and recharge with this nutritious drink.
For finishing touches, we look for a stall that sells stunning flowers for the tablescape at Katherine’s shoot today. The flowers range anywhere from white hydrangeas to vivid pink peonies and every kind of flower in between. We decide the peonies are the perfect choice for our table.
With pounds of fruits, veggies, baguette, flowers, and popcorn in tow, we make our way uptown to the luscious feast that awaits us. We honor + celebrate the healthy foods we’ve chosen and feel it’s important to meditate on the healing properties within them.
